Let the brothers have beards based on that reasoning and what next? Brothers line up saying, "Jesus, the son of god, never wore a tie." Next it's "By the say, Jesus never wore pants. So, I'm coming to the KH in a robe." I tell you, it's a slippery slope.
Emotional manipulation, survival after death in some place in some form. Any religion can play that card. Muslems are ready to blow themselves up with the belief that they will immediately go to heaven as martyrs. And most religions have much more appealing ideas of what the afterlife will be like.

i was recently approached by a couple of borg drones while i was walking my dog, and i thought why not, may plant a seed or two (how wrong was i).
there was no real logic to what they were saying but as i was in the local park the conversation started to veer to how wonderful nature was and how this was the work of a wonderful creator.
i did not let on i was a former witness and let them continue with their fairy tale of creation and how the vast multitude of animals shows a loving god at work blah blah blah...... but i digress, the converastion then turned to how evolution was false.. apparently to earth is only a few thousand years old, so i mentioned about the burgess shale, to be met with blank stares.

About 3500 different species, each species an individual and unique testament to efficient design. With many of theses species sucking the blood of man and animals, consequently spreading an equally marvelous variety of divinely designed diseases.
Can't we be greatful that the loving creator placed all these mosquitoes and diseases in the Garden of Eden?
Can't we also be greatful that god instructed Noah to save all these species and diseases aboard the ark?

last night during the service meeting, the cobe gave an announcement that we should start printing or using jw.org for any special literature such as the daily text, the yearly calendar, etc... he also mentioned to please cancel any orders of the wt and awake on cds because no one is picking them up and they are piling up.. .

don't know if this has been covered before, but who noticed that at every talk at the district convention (mine anyway), every speaker was introduced by name and then 'brother x has been serving for 25 years as a pioneer" or "he has served on the branch committee" etc etc.. what is it with these credentials?

Awful. Truly an awful conclusion. He didn't sound like he was particularly convinced of what he was saying. Guys like Mark have said this same crap often enough that they just can't muster genuine enthusiasm, so they read it and fake it... and he's a terrible actor to try to fake it.
I'm trying to remember the spelling of his last name. Neumair, something like that. They didn't introduce him as gilead instructor, so evidently they've promoted him to brown-nose GB2.0 as his full-time job. I was privy to some of the gilead graduation stuff and for his parts that involved relating experiences of the students, he seemed to be pretty good at making something out of nothing. And they really had to scrape the bottom of the barrel with some of these 'experiences'. A gilead student talks to someone twice that's not particularly interested, and the story gets retold during the graduation that they're studying and making 'excellent progress'. Sometimes the students have even acted out the experiences that other local publishers had, not something that they themselves ever did. He never impressed me much, although he seemed to be plenty impressed with himself. He knew the JW stuff well enough, but never seemed to have an original thought. A company man with a "more of the same" attitude.
these 2 options are before me right now-.
1. write a letter to the elders and my family, not da myself but basically saying i have too much going on in my life and am confused, so that they will stop bothering my wife and stop asking me questions all the time.
after i write the letter continue to go to the hall less and less.... 2. appease my wife.
